Headlight Swap/Removal

I'm looking at replacing my headlights, i've searched all over the forums and can't find a DIY on removing the headlights. Does anyone have a DIY or guidance on this?
I'd like to replace the headlights in my 2011 X5 50i. was going to wait till the LED retrofit was available, but so far its not in the US yet.
BTW, love the 50, feels like my 08 550!

you have to take out the front tire, the wheel arch, the fender liner and then the bracket where the headlight sits.

for the driver side you have one additional step, you have to take off the oil cooler.

Yeah it is. Also get a plastic rivet gun as they rivets on the Fenders will break. They make it so that you don't want to remove the headlights. Even changing out the Xenon bulb is a labor of love or patience. BMW wants to move the liner and charge me $170 bucks to install my 6K lights.

I reached in and changed them myself from the top. What a pain to get the connector back but once I figured out the first one the second one was a breeze.

I am looking to change my factory HID to 6000K.

I tried yesterday it was painful, so I stopped to see if I can get any info on a more effective way of doing this.

How did you do it?
