Question Any Crossfit junkies out there?

I just started crossfit 2 months ago and love it. I have seen great improvement in every level of my fitness and also my overall health.

Just curious to see if there were anymore crossfitters on the forum and what the name of your GYM/BOX is

Santa Ynez Valley Crossfit is the box I workout at

Weird that I see this today as I was trying to get in touch with a crossfit place around my house. I'll be honest I am a little hesitant to start cause of everything I have read on the internet but it is probably the only decent gym around my area else it would be a YMCA

Most crossfit gyms will have what is called "on ramp" and that is where the instructors will work with new members and teach them some of the basic workouts etc.. Then once you pass that (usually 12 classes) you can start doing the wods each time. Wod-work out of the day)

If you are thinking about joining just attend a class and see if you like it. For me having a structured class enviroment makes me more apt to actually do the workouts. When I joined the regular gyms I never went

Just saw this thread, yup I just started CrossFit in September and you can really see improvements in your times. I really appreciate the "personal training" aspect of crossfit, where you basically get instruction every class, rather than going to a gym on your own.

I'm also really big into the culture of CrossFit, where everyone is willing to help you out and encourage you to do great things.

Favorite new things:

Handstand Pushups
Turkish Get-Up - Bar Bell
Weight Lifting - I didn't think I would be into this, but I am.
Fran - My time is 10:48
Still working on unassisted pullups... I weigh 236lbs...

Yup, 5 months in and I'm totally drinking the CrossFit Kool-aid.

This is one of my favorite crossfit youtube videos.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fe2-Tnw-65E

CrossFit Currie Barracks in Calgary, AB is a great place.

What is your Fran time?
What is your favorite exercise?
What is your least favorite exercise?

I was very serious about cross-fit for 2 years. Due to the nature of cross-fit gyms and their costs I attempted to perform the work outs at regular gyms. Quickly it became frustrating, people asking me questions or getting in my way.
Eventually I moved into seal fit.

Funny..the cross-fit craze was in full force at my office (7 people tried it all between 30-40 yrs old), until people started getting back/knee/tendon injuries...now half are visiting drs, chiropractors, alternative medicine/accupuncture, etc. Only one guy does it regularly now.... be careful out there!

^^nice! Can't complain about that!

I will say that you can def get injured if your forum isn't correct or you try to get crazy and bite off more then you can chew but yet again you can get these same issues with basically any work out.

I am excited that our box is going to attempt the tough mudder in vegas in april as a team should be pretty challenging and a great time!

I started around end of November last year, been going twice a week and I do play soccer in the middle between and try to do some abs/pushups while I am not there. I lost 10+ lbs in a month and I've been picking my food more carefully by cutting pretty much all the snacks unless I need something to bite on. It's a great feeling!

Started 4 months back and I absolutely love it. I do my WODs 3 to 4 times a week and I see improvement in strength.
The box I go to is CrossFit Johns Creek

I just started last month -- never done anything like it! The intensity is crazy, hope I can get used to it soon though, I'm dead after every workout ... looking forward to seeing results soon

im sure all of you have no problem with handstand push ups/holds but for me it has always been for some odd reason hard for me mentally! but lastnight in class I was able to conquer it and did 6 hand stand push ups and 4 sets of 30 second hand stand holds. For me this was pretty cool!
