Car and Driver squeezes a 12.8 out of new X5

The F15 50i is a beast!

Impressive for a 5300+ pound vehicle. I sometimes wonder if the HP is understated?

Power window switches finally reside on the door panels instead of at dash center

Yup, they meant the door unlock switches.

I have about the same HP and can get 4.64 so it's legit.

I haven't warmed up to the looks of the F15. Test drove two so far, a diesel and a 35i priced around 70k with no DHP. I don't know, maybe with time I will appreciate it more but for now I am happy to bow out of this one.

There is nothing else that's nicer though, X5 all the way

I agree...the new look has to grow on me but I do like the performance numbers...almost no need to even buy an M...just add the M performance package and M Sport package to the 50i.

All F15 V8 50i models have the N63tu engine now with 445hp. No need to add anything.

Considering the performance coming out of the base F15 50i, I expect the next X5M will be more impressive--it has to be, to justify the cost premium.

Perhaps 0-60 in about 3.5, and low 12's?

Yes...we can definitely expect the new M to be around 600hp if the 50i is 445hp which is more than enough...don't get me wrong, I would love to own the M but I just can't justify the cost premium...if I was a single man with no kids then I would most likely be driving the M.

If it comes with the 8 speed which it should, I would like to think it would be my next Bimmer. Used of course. Let someone else take the $40K bath.

Isn't that the only reasonable way to buy?
