Info on BMW perf exhaust/ E70 3.5 M sport exhaust
We have a sheep in wolf's clothing. Our X6 came in with the M package and it looks the part, but sounds like a camry. Seriously.
The 2012 X5 3.5 M sport came with a sport exhaust with oval tips. I drove in one a few months back. [Question is why didn't our X6 3.5i with M perf. package come with one as well..?] I'm asking about the X5 b/c BMW sells a sport muffler for the X6 35i that seems nearly identical to the one used on the X5 35i M sport. Can someone please comment on the 3.5 M sport exhaust and or post some video or a link to youtube please! There is one on youtube where the tailpipe is black on a white X5. Sounds great, but I'd love to hear more. Startup, interior, going down the road etc... Thanks for any help. Regards, DRP |

I hear that Tischer should be stocking this in the coming weeks - I have floated the idea of having a group buy for this exhaust so all those who are interested should indicate as such here.

I believe both Circle BMW and Newport BMW in Rhode Island will sell to board members for 25% off (essentially wholesale). Apparently, with all the clamps, the 2 trim pieces which come primered, the muffler and the pipes, the whole kit is @$2k full retail. Good news is that it is supposedly only 1 hour to install? So if we can get the whole setup from Tisher or the two other dealers for @ $1,500.00 were in the money Count me in on a group buy if there is one. I'm only waiting until its available... Thanks, DRP |

I checked the part at local BMW part department and it comes with Chrome tips, not black. The price is $19xx. (I just forgot but just little over nineteen hundred). Online price will be around $1700, I think.
Only BMW X5 Performance muffler comes with Black Chrome tips. Quote:

I looked at this part too and considered it but went with the Eissenman Race Exhaust upgrade for my X6 35i. I have the N54 engine and with Dinan Stage 2 it makes more hp and torque and with the Eissenman a deeper sound. Also Eissenman is full exhaust instead of just mufflers and tips. But to each owner his own...its all about options right?
If anyone is interested see my link posted on my install and pics as well as a sound clip link also.

This may be a stupid question, but I remember reading somewhere BMW artificially enhances the sound on the new turbos through the speakers. If this is the case, how much of a difference can we really make?
