Affordable roof racks
Browsing roof racks, Thule seems to be the only one short of an OEM BMW unit that offers a roof rack for the flush rails on my e70.
The Thule setup goes for over $500 new, BMW's OEM unit can be found if the timing is right used for $200-$250 or so. If timing doesnt work out, what are your guys thoughts on this Chinese off brand? https://www.amazon.com/2007-2014-Lug...dp/B01NCMTEIR/ About the only thing that would go on top are snowboards, or no more than about 30lbs of stuff... At least for the foreseeable future.

hey, I went through the same thought process.
I think you should stick with OE BMW bars and buy it preowned. I've picked up OE bars (almost brand new) for $150 on forums and local Craigslist. Aim to pay $100-$150 for used OE bars, which is achievable. If you must buy new, it looks like there are many merchants selling brand new OE bars $200 shipped already (BMW Morristown): https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#t...support+system Advantage BMW already has it for $187 and then add at 10% off coupon to get id down to $168. I think I'm going to do this deal too. My base support is kind of broken, I had to reassemble the damn thing last month when the spring popped out. PITA. https://www.advantagebmwparts.com/oe...RpZXNlbA%3D%3D At this pricing point, i would not buy an off brand. Good luck finding the rest of your roof accessories on the cheap. Boxes are at lest $500...

Thanks for the Advantage BMW source. Morristown did away with their free shipping.
My other go to source now is bmwpartspros.com. They are actually a sponsor on this site. I just bought some stuff from them and it was free shipping and no tax. They're in CA too lol. |

I bought my OE BMW roof rack used from a forum member for $125. I kind of wish I had bought the Rola roof bars as they don't stick up vs the OE bars. I just used it this past week with my Thule Roof box I bought from Amazon for cheap with my skiing gear inside.

@OP - I'm looking to sell my almost new (only used for 2 hrs) rola bars that I bought brand new from Amazon ($160) for my x5. Let me know if you're interested and we can work out a very good deal.
