Back Seat Entertainment DVD Removal
Has anybody removed the DVD players from behind the front seats? I just bought a 2012 X5 35i Premium - which came with them.
I assume that the physical part involves taking off the back covers of the front seats and removing some screws or bolts. What about the electronics? Anybody want to buy them and the headphones?

In case anyone is interested it was very easy to take them out. Less than 30 minutes total.
- Top of the seat backs just pull right off. All that holds them are a couple metal expansion clips. - Remove the two bolts holding the DVD brackets to the seat frame. Don't let them drop. Heavy. - Flip up the screen and remove the 4 screws holding the screen part of the unit into the housing and pull it out of the housing. - This will expose the 4 smaller screws holding the bracket to the housing. Remove them. Do not pull the bracket out. - Release the two small wiring plugs and work them, one at a time, through the hole at the bottom of the housing and around the bracket. - Coil up the wires and stuff them down into the seat back. - Put the bolts back into their holes for possible future use. - Put the DVD units back together for possible future use. - Line up the metal clips and push the seat backs back into place. No alerts or error messages on the dash or iDrive. Anyone interested in 2 BMW DVD players from a 2012 X5?

DVD rear seat units from 2012 X5
For anyone interested, the BMW model numbers of the DVD units are:
65120432899 and 65120432900 Which are Invision models SSLM7FA1 and SSLM7FB1 They require 12V and 13W power. The wiring disappears under the seat and the carpet so a full install to integrate with iDrive might be a bit complex but simply getting 12V to the units so they could be used as stand alone rear seat DVD players should be simple enough. Both have wireless headsets with selectable A or B channels. Found them online for $492 each. Make an offer.
