Long Crank

Hi guys,

Been having issues with long cranks upon cold start and now have the increased battery drain error.

Dealer is proposing replacing the battery, but I'm concerned it's the injectors causing the long cranks and replacing the battery will just mask and delay the issue.

Is replacing injectors under the N63 care package a possibility without codes? Does long crank produce codes..maybe non-CEL codes? I know there has been some success, but wondering on people's experiences.

Thanks,
Joe

If the injectors are less than revision 11, the N63 care package will replace them.

Since you have a 2013, you should be under warranty unless you have more than 50,000 miles. If you are under warranty, then your battery will be covered by the warranty. There is a battery bulletin as well.

Before you change the battery beware of blowing your FRM module. Changing the battery is a coin toss on whether you will or won't,

Dealer will want 500 for battery and to have it registered.

I would not think your injectors are toast after 50k. You can use few bottles in a row upon fill up of tech tron, if you think they are clogged. Did you change the plugs? N54's for example need plugs every 45k and that's just for a daily driver.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Took it in and am having the battery as well as injectors replaced per the N63 customer care package.

I was concerned, but seems like all will be well after these components are swapped.

Still 2-3wks to get parts - hopefully I don't get stuck in the meantime.

Actually the battery is being replaced under the BMW warranty/revised maintenance schedule.
