Looking to buy an X5 3.5d
Hello experts,
I have a 2011 X6 and I am thinking to trade it in for a X5 35d, any feedback from the owners? What is the real EPA? How does it drive? Also, should I get the 2014? The dealership offered a very good discount on the 2013 models. Thanks |

I picked up a 2013 X53.5d in May and love it. Getting low 20's avg overall MPG. Drives great and I'm very happy. I had 2 dealers fighting over my business and was able to work out a great deal and got the BMW ECO credit (was either $3,000 or $3,500 can't remember) plus the BMW CCA membership rebate of $1,000.

The MPG is the same as the 35i combined (source: father used to have the older diesel X5 before buying 40d). Drove back and forth to Italy, averaged about 24mpg. That's the same I get in my 35i.

The hiway mileage is upwards of 26-28mpg and a good 22-24mpg combined driving. The torque is what sets it apart from the 3.5i it has V8 torque and 6cyl economy. There will not be a 2014 diesel maybe 2015-16 before they release a diesel from what I have heard.

It's not a 3.5i/d, It's 35i/d.
"3.5" implies engine size, which is 3.0 for the vehicles in question. Yeah, BMW likes to confuse people.. |

I get about 18-19 mpg in the city and on the highway usually 23-25. Combined, it's usually around 19-20 but I have a heavy foot and I like the low-end torque of the car.
I made a road trip from VA to TX and I averaged about 25 mpg and this was going roughly 10mph over the speed limit. I was pretty impressed. The handling is superb (much better then the Range Rover Sport I had). |
