Multi-Contour seats
I am starting to regret not ordering the multi-contour seats. Not that the standard sets are bad but I really like the look of the multi....

I don't want to rub it in, but the Multi-Contour seats are amazing. Well worth the $900 or whatever.

One of my friends has 535i which doesn't have sports package, multi-contour seats. Every time he gets into my car, he says " I had to have multi-contour seats" |

Yep I screwed up for sure! My brother had them in his 5 series. Didn't want to add to many options but that should have been on the list!

Awesome option, with some hidden features, for example, the air support goes out when you open the car so that you can leave the car more easily and it inflates back once you start the car. The comfort is amazing. Best seats ever! In Europe with sports package they are much cheaper.

I think it inflates/deflates on non-multi seats as well |

In glancing at the 2013 option list, it appears this is now even harder to get (not included where it used to be - thus a separate option).
PS - they are amazing.

I concur. I was thinking about spending the extra grand on the super premium stereo system, but decided to spend the cash on the seats instead. Sure am glad I did!
I have also discovered that I would not have had as much time to really enjoy the stereo as much as I have the seats. I drive to work everyday about 30 minues each way. I usually listen to talk radio/traffic - no need for hi-fi for that! On weekends I often have my wife and kids with me - heaven forbid if I play the car stereo too loud so that it interferes with the earphones stuck in my kids ears! The sound quality of Sirius/xm really sucks - premium sound system won't help that! Extra benefit - if you want to fully recline and take a nap between games at a lacrosse tournament, these seats are great! Lay it back, adjust the upper contour, adjust the headrest and tilt of the seat, and close your eyes! |

I have few friends who got X6 without the comfort seats. They are VERY HAPPY.
I test drove X6 with and without it and they both had nice seats.. Bottom line: it is a nice option indeed. But if you got an X6 without it, no need to regret. You will live long enough to get a better X6M full of options.. For now, enjoy the ride and don't make a missing option steal the joy. |

My old X5 had comfort seats and my new X6M does not. I found that I didn't use all if the air/lumbar settings at all. In fact, the side panels that squeezed on the sides annoyed me. Also, I thought the lumbar support was uncomfortable. So, for me, the comfort seats were not worth it. I bought a very sporty vehicle so I spent the money on the engine and performance so I passed on cushy things like the comfort seats and soft close doors. Those just didn't seem to fit the character of my "beast" X6M. My wife got the comfort seats on her new X5 and loves them. So, I don't think that they are mandatory.

There was a saying by one of my friends "No matter what options you put in a car, after sometime the car will become just a 'mean of transportation'".
Options that impact drivability are MUST, rest are just options! |

My X5-35d just entered production. I am tracking the build on the BMW USA website and it shows the following configuration - but I am sure I did not specifically order multi contour seats nor adaptive drive. It looks like it's part of the Sport Activity Package as build - did the Sport Activity Configuration change recently? Or am I just lucky to get these without ordering them?
Space-saver spare Running boards Dark Bamboo wood trim BMW Apps Sport Activity Package •Anthracite headliner •Sports leather steering wheel •Sport Suspension delete •Adaptive Drive •Sport seats •Multi-contour seats •Shadowline exterior trim Premium Package •Voice-command •Rear View Camera with Top View •Real Time Traffic Information •Comfort Access keyless entry •Online Information Services •4-zone automatic climate control •Universal garage-door opener •Interior mirror with compass •Navigation system •Rear manual side window shades Premium Sound Package •Satellite radio with 1 year subscription •Premium hi-fi system

I must say this is a really necessary option.Considering the seat is your body's physical interaction
with the car, this feature is essential for relaxed and comfortable driving.

So I have my X6 for about a year now and a few long rides with the standard seats. I must say they are very comfortable indeed. Sure the contour seats may have been a great option, but I can't say the std seats that come with the premium PKG are not comfortable.

Exciting time. Here in the US, the bmwusa.com site has a monitoring system where you can enter your production number (get this from dealer) and it shows the stages of the car. Lots of people say it's not accurate but in my case it actually was. We also have a phone number we can call to check status.
I would check with your dealer for similar options in your country, I'm sure there is a similar system. I do believe that for the phone number you need the VIN of the car, which is not available until the car already enters production. I was in the X3 factory tour last week and they have a really cool feature setup with cameras (video and photo) at different parts of the assembly line, for each car, and when the owner gets their new X3 they can see a video of their actual car as it gets built. Pretty cool. Too bad they don't have it for the X6 yet, maybe next generation |
