UPO (Unidentified plastic object)
Howdy and happy Memorial Day
I recently acquired an 07 4.8 X5 and wanted to ask about a couple issues. 130K miles and zero maintenance history (I know I know). It actually is clean and runs very well. Seems to idle a tad high and rough for the first minute then is nice and smooth. Also, occasionally it does a harsh shift, mostly when not in sport mode. Having no history I decided to do new plugs and I got a great deal on a Bosch MAFS so doing that as well. When I started removing all the airbox parts I noticed this hard plastic hose staring up at me like a giant worm I disturbed. It's in the front driver's side of the engine bay, and I don't see what it's supposed to connect to. Can't find anything like it in RealOEM except for something on the fuel supply page, called a "scavenge air line." Anyone know where this hooks up? With regards to shifting, is there a DME update that might correct for this? Thanks for any help. Kevin |

Is it a water/air drain line which hooks up to the underside of any components you removed?

Can you trace back to where it connects? I was thinking it might be the fuel tank breather line. http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=13_1034

Pretty sure the breather line is the one right next to it. All the EVAP lines look hooked up.
I can't see any place it would attach on the parts I removed. It dives down and goes under the engine. Guess I'm gonna have to get it up in the air. |
