Sticky gas pedal

Earlier this year, my X6 gas pedal started to feel "weird". There were small detents that I could feel while pressing the accelerator. Almost as though the smoothness was gone. It got worse over time, eventually making noise and finally sticking a little. While it was in for service, I had the dealer check it and they would not release it to me until they ordered and installed a new gas pedal.

Now the same thing is happening again. I started to feel the lack of "smoothness" about a month ago and today it is now making noise.

Just curious if anyone else has had this?
