X5 ///M50d & X5 3.5d ///M-Sport
Does anyone have any idea why the X5 ///M50d is not available in the US or why the ///M-Sport package is not an available option here? It's truly a shame, given that the ones available overseas are also "Made In USA"...

Asking yourself why and then researching it leads to some great discoveries.
BMW sells a 4 cylinder diesel economy model of an F30 in Europe that gets 80mpg ..... Why don't we get it here in the US? BMW would sell any car anywhere they could ....they are a 'for profit' car manufacturer....but they are beholden to someone that allows or disallows certain models to enter certain markets....who could it be? Oh oh ...I know.... Maybe its the same reason I pay the highest gas prices in the country, yet I live near 4 of North Americas biggest refineries..... and the fellow in Nebraska that has to have his gas delivered from 400 miles away pays 25% less. Hmmm.... what's going on here? Who's in control here? Who has the worlds most highly educated economists on staff dedicating thousands of hours to determine which parts of the country can afford to pay how much per gallon? Who benefits most from BMW 'not being able' to sell their super economical cars here in the US? Still nothing? I'll give you a clue They have the largest collective profit margins year after year and control government vehicle import tarrifs and exclusions by way of lobbyists and highly-enforced legislation. Stop spreading lies like "its got something to do with emissions" ....most of Europe (especially Germany) has higher environmental standards then the US in every aspect. The sooner we stop being the worlds worst consumer/citizen/patriot, the faster we will get cars that do 80mpg or more. Last edited by mastek; 04-28-2013 at 12:10 AM.. |
