tracking new order?

I just found out my production number. I tried to call and find out what the status was... I ordered it Dec 22nd, and today the vehicle is in the body shop with the completion date of Jan 19th 2010. I was wondering since it's assembled here in SC how long would it take to reach the west coast?

About a week.

I suppose if it is in the body shop, there was shipping damage.

Oh, never heard that before, I thought it went to a body shop for repair.

Thanks. I just was wondering how long it normally takes. This being made in the US and all, just curious as to whether they'll transport by land(train) or sea(ship)

It's probably at the Preparation Center which means it's almost done. Took mine a week to get out here--but that was with Christmas etc.

i think when u say body shop u mean paint shop? after the paint shop the vehicle is assembled, QA'd and shipped.

bmws leaving the east coast go west via train to a distrubition carrier who brings it to your dealer.

East coast dealers usually get their cars within 2-3 days after completion because they hit the road

better than waiting for your car via Germany lol

thanks guys for the posts I'll call again but I'm sure it said body shop.. Maybe that's their new reference to paint shop. We'll see. As for it being done, I heard the automated system say expected completion date of Jan 19th which isn't too far from now But my current e92 335 lease ends the 20th....

I have ordered 2 X5M's now and am awaiting the second one - mine should be here 1/28 or 1/29. Following the "waiting to be released to carrier" step, it took about 15-16 days on the orginal order - 11/5/09 awaiting release - then 11/9/09 released to carrier - to the final date of 11/21/09 when I picked it up at my SoCal dealer. Currently I am in transit and it should hopefully arrive as expected/projected tomorrow on 1/28. Overall it took about 3 weeks from the first day it showed as scheduled for production instead of on order. It shouldn't be too much longer for you.

I should clarify why I ordered 2. The first one was delivered and subsequently damaged by the dealer - I was not satisfied with the repair they initiated so I requested that they order me another one - hence I have been through this twice now. The first time was agonizing, I could not wait until it arrived. It sounds like you are going through this now. Don't worry - IMHO it is worth the wait in every way - even if you had to go through it second time. It was not as unbearable this time, just a few more days - it is actually forcing me to learn patience. In the time that I have waited, almost taken delivery and waited again - I have read and watched just about every article, video, comment etc. about this BMW. This is the only thing I can do until it arrives - I feel like I know it so well already, LOL.

I have been through this recently with our 2010 X5 35d but I am in Texas; it took less than two weeks once "released to carrier" but it depends on how soon the carrier actually picks it up after it is released and how many stops/detours on the way to Cali.

If it is awaiting transport now then you should definitely have it earlier than the end of February.

I hope so. tried calling in and all they can tell me is awaiting carrier. I'm not going to check up on it anymore. I'm just going to wait for my advisor to contact.

I can't imagine what's holding things up. From order date to receiving the car was less than 30 days for me. Bummer. You certainly are being patient.

I actually got a call from the dealer today and my guy said it arrived today - 1/27/10 (1 day early). Just like the first X5M, right on schedule at about three weeks from start of production. You can probably count on that for a west coast delivery.

I've waited before for 2 other cars in my past. 9 months for my 2001 C320, first sports package with comand nav system in the Bay Area. and 12+months for a Mini Cooper S because of the delays in the HK radio upgrade never took delivery since it took too long, I was #1 on that list too. I"m used to the waiting game

How can I check what the original production date was?? The date of completion was the 19th of Jan. that's all I have.
