hello, new to the board

just wanted to say hello, I just recently purchased a 2011 x5 sport activity(alpine white, blk nevada leather, light poplar wood, convenience and tech packages, heated seats, running boards). Anyway its torture waiting for it, its been a week and it still says its in the ordered phase on the tracking site.

I def. have enjoyed looking at everyones vehicles, everyone here seems to really have a good eye on whats nice, and info about the car. I do have a quick question, the first thing i wanted to do 100% to my vehicle when it came in was to change out the angel eyes to the bright white color ones everyone has. I hate that factory yellow look. Anyway i just saw a promotional video from BMW for my vehicle and it looked like it already had the ultra white bulbs in the vehicle. Do certain models come with the angel eyes changed already?

I test drove a 2011 x5 and im pretty sure the lights looked yellowish but i can't really remember to be honest. The BMW commercial def had different from lights. I guess i just have to wait and wait until i finally get mine. lol

Does anyone else agree with me that while, the tracking your vehicle on the website is a nice feature, it just makes the waiting process that much more painful. lol.

I know that the 5GT has the LED "angel eyes" or corona rings (preferred expression here I believe). The X5 for Europe does too. I have not seen them here yet. I am trying to get March production - to get the new commbox option with access to the Connected App.

oh, i thought the com box was put into vehicles produced after october 10, and that march was going to be a software upgrade that will allow "apps" to work? I could be wrong though.

What you are looking for is a code 6NR, the October combox is 6VC. It may be a flash upgrade and the code will change when that is done. This would be logical (as Ford did in the 1980's with EEC IV boxes). Unfortunately on German assembly lines workers are rarely paid to think logically so everything has to be laid out in a specific order.

The promo video you saw is of a European x5. North American models still have the yellow angels.

I ordered an X5 35i SA on 12/30, it lists Combox controller as 6VC on the order sheet. I sure as hell hope there is a flash upgrade in the future!!!
