Climate Control is not working

My 2002 X5 climate control does not work. My heater works but does not emit heat at bottom and defroster doesn't work. We thought something was blocking it so tech had to pull out the dashboard behind the climate control and found out that the center swivel that directs vent is broken. I was told that BMW sells the whole panel and roughly costs $500 for the part.

Does anyone know where I can get this or just that piece? I don't think I need a new one, just a working one. Please advise.
