X5 or 5 GT X-Drive?

I'm very indecisive!

Which one to get?

530d GT X-Drive

or

X5 30d

Any pros/cons/advice?

Best

I have not driven a 5GT so this isn't personal experience, but.....

Based on reviews, I think you'll find the X5 a sportier drive than the 5GT. It will feel taller but the handling is beyond anything expected of an SUV, especially with M Sport, active suspension, etc.

I also think the X5, even the X6, is better looking than the 5GT. Although it does have the updated instrument cluster.

I personally have no clue why BMW would bring out the 5GT and drop the 5er wagon. Its much better looking and has more cargo capacity for those wanting it for that.

GT wins on the interior design, as it is an Fseries already, however most reviews nailed the drive of the GT. The biggest minus for me on the GT (I actually like the way it looks) is the apparent drive and VERY SMALL TRUNK. It is not comparable to an x5.

I have driven the GT with the V8 and it's a rocket...

Subjective and personal ratings:
Handling & Acceleration goes to GT
Interior Styling & Luxury goes to GT
Exterior Styling goes to X5
Utility and Hauling goes to X5
Ground clearance goes to X5
Financially I would assume better resale on X5 not sure of BMW incentives (if there are any) on GT
Neither of the vehicles are easy on gas

Why is the multicontour seat in the 5'er so much more comfortable than the mc seat in the X? Wonder if it's different leathers? Sure was a noticeable difference!

No personal experience with the 530d GT...but I did test-drive a 2010 550GT x-drive on Saturday....and really didn't like it! The stearing was very soft and imprecise (I drove the 135i vert to the dealer, so that was my immediate comparison), the power is there, but comes on only when really coaxed...

To me, it was a true GT car. Good for old guys to commute to work.

Sorry, that was my impression. I couldn't pay that much $$,$$$.$$ for that car.

I only testdrove non-d models; both X5 and GT.
I can tell you that GT is definitely a luxurious car. X5 is great but it feels quite cheap compared to GT interior. However, I did not like GT ride. It was too soft for me and too isolated from outside. It came with adaptive drive and even "sport" mode was not too much different from "comfort." The one thing I found out only after seeing GT was its trunk setup. Everyone says that GT trunk space (after seat down) is similar to X5. But the detachable cover which separates cabin and cargo/trunk does not come off completely. In other words, you only remove half and the other half still is attached to trunk lid. So, if you have a little bit of tall item, it's useless. I had to say no to GT because my dog crate is slight taller. Other than this trunk and driving dynamics (GT being softer), I couldn't find much difference. More about preference. My dealer told me that they so far sold 3 GTs.
