The WeissLicht units are designed to be a 6000k xenon white color so they would be a good match for the new LED angel eyes.

there seems to be two types of License Plate LED solutions.

(Pic 1) LED licente plate housing with built-in LEDS. Normally have 12-24 very tiny LEDs in one housing.

(Pic 2) LED bulb replacements for the original. These are fetson bulbs with 2-3 36mm LEDs.

The OEM license plate LEDs in 2011 X3, 2012 X5 seems to have a 2 LED (Pic 3, 4, 5). Pics 4, 5 are pictures from a 2011 X5 35i with stock OEM license plate LEDs.

As I'm only looking to achieve the brightness and color of OEM, is (Pic 2) a better solution? They are alot cheaper too.

Please provide your input. Thanks!

They are actually brighter than the OE units.

Between the two, I'd go with the 2 LED pieces, as that's how OEM is set up. Not sure if it will still be brigther than OEM or not though. Post pics after it's installed, I'm interested in doing this mod as well.
