good, warranties are meant to be used. I hate to see people waste money on things that are covered.

I heard that FRM could also be damaged by trying to code something in it (like 'double-blink' hazard lights). I wanted to code FRM for LED lights and now a bit hesitant to do that. I did code the double-blink lights with no issues.
I know this is a stupid question but would it be covered by the warranty? Also read that Carly could 'detect' that the state of the FRM module is not good and warn user not to proceed with coding. Not sure if this is really works but.. I never used it, using only NCSExpert.. my car is 2013 X5 35i.. |

I had the same exact situation as OP replaced my battery and full lighting module failure. Took my truck to BMW had the whole thing replaced and programmed under extended warranty and now I'm able to code it! |

I cross my numbers by pulling them up in the online BMW catalog to. You can get a bunch of interchangeable numbers and then search the junkyard and online. I did this for my CIC, and am doing this for my amp.

Mine just went out in my 2011 x5 and i am having the same symptoms. My question is, can this also cause the car not to go into gear? When I put it in drive it might drive for 2 feet then it kicks back into park every time. This all happened when i disconnected the battery.

This happened to me when i changed my battery yesterday. Can i re-code the FRM or should i just look to purchase a new one altogether?

If you have to do it yourself, you have to buy a special programmer and take apart the FRM, solder up some taps to the chip to interface with the programmer, load a new eeprom on it. THEN you can code it and even then it's tricky to do right...not for the faint of heart but it can be done... Or just grab one at a junkyard and recode it. |
