I’m having a few brews... but I recall those... not two piece...and certainly not coated if I recall...I don’t think they would last a winter in my neck of the woods.... but I’ve been wrong before....

As far as rotors, i am in CA so rust isnt a big deal here plus you can always paint them with high heat paint to prevent rusting. For $64 each you cant beat that. I used the same ones on my 335i and had no issues with them after 40k |

That's disappointing intel for Powerstop z23 brake pads. Those pads are on my radar as an option for my X5M. Did you perform the bedding process?
I transition to Akebono Pads and Zimmerman rotors for the rear with no issues. Wheels stay clean with no squeaks. I'm aiming for Zimmerman and low dust pad for the front. Brake dust has damaged the wheel finish and is difficult to remove. |

Powerstops were great for dust.. but the squeal was terrible also the initial bite was weak.. they take a while to warm up. Jurids are in between.. they dust more than Powerstops.. but nowhere as a bad as oem and the initial bite is better. I actually have powerstops on my rear discs and they dont make any noise. Maybe they just dont like my front rotors.
and yes i bedded them properly... |

I just installed Powerstop Z32's on my X5M. I've had them on my Lexus for about a month and a half now. Not as much initial bite than the OEM Brembo's but same stopping power and very little dust. No squeals at all. I like them.

Did you change rotor's with brake Pads? Is rotor OEM? Powerstop Pad is still on my radar. Brake pad performance seems similar to Akebono, (low dust pad with less bite when cold).
I've been using Akebono for numerous years on all my cars with no issues. Unfortunately, Akebono doesn't make front brake pads for the X5M. I installed Zimmerman rotors with Akebono for rear replacement. |

With the Lexus, no. The OEM rotors (and pads) still had plenty of life left but the brake dust was too ridiculous so I switched to power stops and they are working well with the OEM rotors. With the X5M, the rotors are well above minimum thickness so I'm just switching the pads. Have the fronts installed and waiting on my 7 MM allen to switch out the rears. The rotors on them came with it when I got the X5 last year so I do not know if they are OEM or not. All I know is the pads I had generates a lot of brake dust as well.
