It is the email address and cell number assist has on file. Call them if you are not sure what they have. Funny thing is, if I know your email address and cell number I can send info to you car without authorization. Talk about a security issue.

This will be ripe for hacking. And of course, along comes the viruses. Then along comes the forum questions. What kind of A/V do you run in your BMW? The stealer wants $480 to disinfect my car. My home computer crashed and now my car won't start. My Windows XP computer corrupted my Idrive profile and now my car stereo only plays show tunes.

I used mine in my X6 5.0i yesterday...really neat...you simply set up your account with BMW Assist, and give them your email address...use the same email address on googlemaps.com, and go to "send" then "car" and it will show up in your car...to get it, go to "Communication" on iDrive, then BMW Assist, then My Info...it will be there, and easy to add the address to your Nav address book...I love this feature.

dmlgc,
When you picked up your vehicle didn't the dealer walk you thru the setup for assist? My dealer had me fill out the details on their computer online for assist and then when we got in the vehicle the first time we called Sirius at activated the satellite radio. I have used the google maps 4 times already and it is awesome! In my opinion, it is one of the only ways I will use the navigation because BMW navigations are probably one of the worst I have ever used. I have used Lexus and Acura and they are so much better. BMW is really lacking the fact that you cannot search by name. For example, if I know I am looking for a Bank of America, you cannot type in Bank of America and then it brings up the closest Bank of America. You can search by bank or or predetermined categories and it brings up all of the ones within a search radius. Not as user friendly and you really need a physical address for it to be functional. Once you have a physical address it works great and it really cool if you have HUD as well. |

It is no big deal to me. Now if I could send the address from my phone to my Nav via bluetooth, that would rock!

I had the same issue because I assumed the email address I put in 'My info' was also logged in my BMW Assist settings - then could not understand why the email to the car kept failing. Turns out that BMW's systems are not actually connected (funny given how the cars sell on technology!!!) - once I called BMW Assist (via SOS button) and logged my email address with them directly it worked fine. Great feature by the way..... as per Shenard's comment, makes life much easier than trying to do directly via iDrive!
Cheers, Anteater. |

Don't know what to say. Mine works fine. I would go into the dealer and ask them to walk you thru it and to send an address from their computer to your car. |

DMLGC - issue may be that you need to subscribe to the 'convenience package' for the download feature to work. If you don't have a subscription google maps will confirm sending but it will be rejected by the BMW Assist account.
