Will BMW change the Body Style for 2012/2013? Should I wait?

Hello all!

I’m looking to buy my dream car, the BMW X5 Deep Sea Blue, but I been watching forums and spy pics very carefully as BMW may come out with a new X5 model for next year.

Let’s talk about X5 history…
In 2006 BMW released a new 3 series, like they are doing right now (today, October 14, 2011), less than a year they released a new X5 which is our current model, in 2011 they changed the engine to 3.5i turbo and they did some very small changes on the looks.
The current X5 still looking sharp, but I don’t want to expend 50K on a car that will be outdate next year.
Lets agree, on every new model that BMW introduces comes with a smaller engine, same or better performance than the previous model, better gas mileage, and less weigh, and on the X5 case the car seems way too heavy. Plus, the current instruments are outdated compared to the 2011 X3 & 5 Series.

I would make sense for BMW to introduce a new re-design model next year.
I do consider the new X3, but the front of the car is not as rounded as the X5, plus the X3 does not offer that MAN looks that the X5 has.

Waiting for replays, Thx.

The redesigned 3 series will begin sales in Spring/Summer 2012 as a 2013 m/y which puts the X5 about a year off at Spring/Summer 2013 as a 2014 m/y.

The F10 5 series grew in size and weight. Unfortunately, the X5 will most likely to do the same.

You've seem the new 3 series. You want your headlights connected to your grille and "Modern" stamped everywhere?

I think it will be around 2014 or 2015. I would say if you can same more money and pay it cash wait. If not a 2008 in the mid 30'. So when the time comes you can get the new one.

Get yourself a used E70. I was able to get an X5 that had an original sticker of $68k for $40k with only 25k miles on it. You save yourself a good bit of coin, and then when BMW releases the new model, you can re-sell your used one for minimal loss and jump into the new model. The biggest depreciation that you take is driving the new car off the lot. After that, the resale value on X5s is still very good compared to other vehicles in this class.

twerle,
Get a good E70 before BMW messes it up (I hope they don't but you never know). Since all X5s are nowadays need to be ordered (nobody stocks them) once they stop building them they will be gone forever. Look at what MB did with ML-350. To each his own, but I would hate to get stuck with the newer body if I was in market for ML (I was for a short time before I decided on X5). I liked the older ML which is what I drove, and the 2nd gen was just OK but not perfect, but this 3rd gen is ughh...
That's just my opinion...

I just got a 2007 335i for a really good price and I'm selling my current 2010 Lexus IS250 with only 16K miles.

I will wait till the new X5 comes out as the current X5 has too many complains, is too havy and the interior is somehow outdated if you compare to the current 5 series, but I still love the outside looks. The previous model before 2010 (3.0 & 4.4) where just too thirst.
Thank you for all the follow-up.

And let me tell you.

Once BMW, always BMW, don't waist your money on Lexus neither on Mercedes as you will be driving them thinking: "Yes, has a nice interior but I should bought another bimma, deam! Whyyy, Whyyy?"
