Just purchased my X6 M!
On a sales trip yesterday I ended up going an hour out of my way to see the only X6 M on the showroom in the eastern half of the United States. I called the dealer, told them I was coming, and basically walked in the door 5 minutes after someone else came to see it.
Took it for a test drive (had dibs), and guys, I can only tell you that this car is a million times better in person. The power, handling, and pure sex appeal of this car is absolutely incredible. Got it back to the dealer, the other gentlemen basically put me on the spot and said "You buying it or what? 'Cause if you're not, I am". After learning from another dealer that day that there are only 139 allocations of the X6 available nationwide, and that only 61 of them are orderable / configurable, I basically figured if I didn't grab it I wasn't going to get one. So, I am now the proud owner of a new X6 M with Silverstone Metallic, Comfort Access, HUD, etc. For those that haven't seen Silverstone, it is absolutely stunning. It has a slight blue tint to the point, so that in low light it looks incredible. Otherwise, it just looks mean silver in direct sunlight. Going to pick it up later today, will take some videos when I get it. Ryan |

Congrats!!! My wife and I just placed our order (we're in Canada), for a fully configured X6M - Sapphire black, black interior. She'll drive this in the winter, mostly (2006 Z4 M for the summer).
Do you have to do the usual, M break-in period? Do you have ventilated seats? We were told we could only get the ventilated seats if we first special ordered the "Comfort" seats (which, I would think, would be a step down from the M seats), THEN order the ventilated seats - just over CDN$2000 to do so. We crammed it - not worth it. I'm going to have to work on the M3... something tells me my wife is going to be able to take me down in a straight line....

Any x6 is fantastic, x6 M must be Incredibly Marvelous!

Did u test drive any of the other similar suv's e.g. R Rover sport, ml6.3 amg, Cayanne gts/turbo before testing the x6m? What key feature made u decide x6m is the one u want? did u compare back to back w x6 5.0i vs. M version? Did u compare test drive / compare handling of x5M? Wow, I bet the other guy was dissapointed in you!
Doesn't it make it hard to bargain with the dealer though, when someone else is sitting there ready to buy? I hope you got a deal you are happy with. I have received advice to order from two dealers, and then when they come in, pick the better deal. I am not sure I could do that though. But it seems to be reasonable to say if you custom order a car, when it comes in, you can do a little more dealing with them, because if you walk away, that car may be somewhat harder to sell if it is not loaded. You can also continue to try and get value for the fact that it is pre-sold, and therefore there are no other incured expenses for the dealer such as advertising, interest, etc. Enjoy it and show us some pictures once you get it home. |
