H&R springs w/self leveling 1/4 higher?
After installing H&R w/self leveling my driver side rear is about 1/4 inch higher than the passenger side rear. Did any of you with the same setup have this problem?

Can you adjust the rear endlinks? That is usually the fix.
Note, it's not often that a car is level from left to right. Sit in it, to add weight, and have someone measure from fender lip, to the center of the wheel hub. Your weight might make the difference here. |

Mitch the links are even on both sides. I've had most of my cars lowered and I've never seen the height be different in just one rear corner. I just wanted to see if this was the norm for H&R 1" drop w/shelf leveling.

I've had plenty of cars with different heights when lowered. Plenty. Didn't matter if eibach springs, H&R, Swift or whiteline. Even worse when corner balanced on coilovers.
Sometimes it's just the ground not level, other times the fenders of a car are deceiving where people were expecting a gap from front to rear. That said, IIRC, adjusting the links can adjust your difference. Or you have a leak in your airbag. Aloha |

My driver side is 1/2" higher after adding H&R's. Back passenger side is about even with the fronts. Not happy at all with the addition. I am getting the bucking and the ride is pretty harsh. On the freeways at 80, I almost have to brace myself on some dips. Not as bad at lower speeds, but pretty bad at higher speeds. It corners great, but really bounces around if the road isn't perfect. I know the rears need to be 1/2" higher than the fronts and one side is, but still a harsh ride.
I almost wonder if the install was bad. I can feel the shocks bottom out on speed bumps. That never happened stock. |

I've found that the rear heights on mine fluctuate from side to side over time when measuring from my garage (level surface). I'll adjust the endlinks to account for the lower side to be even with the higher side and the truck will usually stay at a level ride height in the rear for a few days and then will adjust itself again. I target to have the center of the rear arches ~30" from the ground, but find that it can vary between 29.5-30". The driver side rear usually stays consistent (30"), but rear passenger will vary depending on the day even when measuring from same location.
Does anyone know how often the self-leveling adjusts? Is there any special process for adjusting the turnbuckles to ensure the truck adjusts and holds that height? |

If you are experiencing very harsh bumps and scared for your life on dips, the links on the rear end are too low.
I have the 2.0" H&R springs and H&R links in the rear and when they were first installed the car drove like sh!t! I had another shop adjust the rear links so that they are slightly higher than the fronts (raked look), and the ride is pretty close to stock now. I have an E46 as well that is lowered 2+" so I am used to what a lowered car should ride like....so trust me when I say they didn't set the end links correctly! |

Thanks, I'll get them raised. The passenger side is about even and the driver side is about a 1/2" higher than the front. How much higher than the front? Just seems like I have lost a lot of travel in the shocks. I bottom out the shocks now on decent sized speed bumps.

The rear links are a pain the ass to setup. You think you have the same number of turns but oh no, one side sits high or low. Personally Its not worked on my car in that left and right adjustments were the same to get correct ride height from a side to side perspective.

I had my H&R 1.2 inch lowering kit installed yesterday. The shop used digital calipers to measure the adjustable links to 65mm like the intructions stated and the car came out perfect with the proper rake and dead level side to side.
I hope they get your setup correct! The ride is firm but not harsh and less body roll. It goes in Friday for an alignment after 2 days of driving to help the front springs settle. |

Thanks everyone. I have the 1.2" kit. Front shocks bottom out over bigger speed bumps which they didn't do stock. Just wondering if they screwed them up. The shop said it was a huge pain to get these springs in and I have not heard that before. My driver side rear is 1/2" higher (30.5 in front, 31 in back) but the passenger side is not. Maybe I will go .75 on both sides to make sure because right now, it is a bouncy house at anything over 75mph. Corners great, but bouncing around.

If you have a photobucket account, you can load them there and then copy the image link and past into your post here. Easy. There should be a way thru this site as well but I always use the photobucket method.

My stock settings had .17 - .20 toe in each side. Now it is zero toe in the front and with the springs the camber settled in at -.7 camber. The rear had .20 - .23 tow in and -2.5 camber...... Now it is .01 toe in each side and -1.0 camber. In 7k miles, I would have had bald outside front tires and bald inside rears.... Now will have decreased wear and better .turn-in. |
