Carfax looks clean. No accidents, 3-owner, limited device records, sold at auction at 44k miles, originally a CA truck. The questions I'd be asking is why it has the wheels it does and reason for the low price. Hopefully the dealership will have more answers for you. If it turns out clean looks like it would be a good buy.

yes,, hopefully i will get more answers tomorrow.. I am also asking the dealership for a copy of the DCS report. As for the wheels.. I guess they are not the standard for an '10 model. Is that correct?

The x5m came with either style 299 or 300 both of which are split 5 spoke design. The wheels on the car now are typically found on the 50i sport package. The reason this would concern me is that the hubs are different sizes and so there is a chance the wheels are not fitted correctly (hub centric)

As for the DCS report most dealerships won't give it to you due to client confidentiality. If you get any push back I'd at least ask to go over the trucks history with the SA.

Keep in mind this x5 m doesn't have backup camera, satellite radio ( unless someone add it) or heads up', which all these 3 were a must for me. but it could be why its priced like that, along with the wrong wheels on it

Carfax: Why was the console replaced?

Why was it never CPO'd by Crevier BMW?

I'd pass ... it's been through the auction too many times. Each previous owner had a reason to get rid of it. Don't be the 4th!

^^^ it does raise the question especially since the truck had low miles when first owner turned it in. The DCS report should say a lot about the history so before jumping to conclusions about the console I'd wait to see what the report states.

While paint and leather condition are usually an indication of how well a car is maintained, some owners aren't privy to proper care and utilize local car washes. Since most car washes dry with reused towels it's very common for there to be noticeable marring and micro scratches. Most of these scratches can be easily removed with some good paint correction and leather can be reconditioned to near new based on condition. That being said I wouldn't be so quick to judge a vehicle with nearly 70k on the clock because of some "scratches" that can be easily corrected.

I didn't run a carfax but in one of the photos of the right front fender it seems like there is more orange peel in the paint than normal. I'm not sure and it might be just the angle of the lighting but something to look at for possible incident history.

socale39.
I got my report on the car and your question regarding the wheels.. Here is what the BMW dealer wrote:

"RIMS ON VEHICLE NOW ARE NOT THE ONES THAT CAME ON THE
VEHICLE FROM FACTORY. BUT THE RIMS INSTALLED ON THE
VEHICLE NOW ARE AN OPTION FOR THE VEHICLE. NO PROBLEMS
WITH IT BEING HUB CENTRIC"

I'd just warn you that 2010 is the last year before the LCI update, and owning a 2010 X5M with between 60K and 70K miles, I hope you have money set aside for potential warranty issues. That will not be cheap.

You might be buying it cheap as a used 2010 with high miles, but it'll end up potentially costing you a lot once the repairs start.

I am hoping i do not run across those issues.. I presume that a route66 warranty would be helpful if issue come up.

I'm not sure route 66 covers M-vehicles. Better to find that out before you make your purchase

P1et has a very valid point. I have personal experience from owning an E60 M5 previously. Pickup up the car under $30k but also had money set aside for all the repairs. I sold the car before the really heavy repairs were to be needed which saved me about $7k. A route66 warranty would probably be in your best interest.

As for the wheels, the rears do have different hub bore size, the SA probably isn't aware so this is why you got the response you did.

Socale39,
I used to have a E60 M5('06). It is actually for sale. 49K miles. I went to go see it and it is in excellent shape. It is kept in a showroom. It is in Baton Rouge, LA. I would definitely recommend this M5 if anyone was looking for one.
