could be the coating they put on the rotors in shipping to keep them from rusting burning off.... if it continues after a couple days id look into it more. but that's normal

Strangely enough, the instructions on a complete set of hp rotors/pads I had bought for my GC SRT advised the exact opposite. Brake hard from 60mph to a complete stop, then let go of the brakes immediately and do not apply brakes for at least a minute or two. Repeat....

My usual bed in for pads and pads/rotors is brake 1/2 a dozen times 30-50km to 10km....nice and easy...then a faster one at about 80-90km...then pull over let em cool...then easy braking for the next while...never had a problem...and usually only get smoke when when coated rotors are used. That goes away quickly...
