BMW X5 2010 Battery drain (4x4 ABS, DSC and DBS Failure)

To All,

This is the recent incident happen last February 2011. Upon pressing the start button, an alarm flash on the screen "4x4 ABS, DSC and DBS Failure". Then the engine did not start. Press the 2nd, 3rd and 4th time, the engine still did not start at all. It's look like no power at all.

The result from Service Advisor mention is that, this problem is due to Battery Drain. Now I have a question, Why this thing happen in just 5 months old?

Does this Battery Drain is cause by what reason?
Does anybody encounter this type of problem?

I need an advice.

Thanks, Richard

NO remote start up. It's a normal start up. Are this normal for a 5 months old BMW X5?

I had a similar situation with my X5 where a component within another box fried and was draining the battery, causing eventually the death of the electrical system. The dealership replaced the box containing the fried out component and everything is back to normal.

My battery went dead about a month ago and was replaced under warranty. 3.0si 2008 model, from brand new and now done approx 40,000 km. Car is always kept locked in a garage overnight. No additional electrical items installed. Car is driven approx 2-3 days per week and covering about 60 highway km each time. I even trickle charge it about once a month.

No cause found, battery was replaced with higher output AGM battery.

Interesting. I recently spent a day doing spring cleaning of my X5, which included a lot of time with the doors and tailgate open... didn't think twice about it until the next day when I started it up and the clock was not set and all the trip odometer information was blank - got the service indicator warning that the battery was low.

I figured I had just used the power liftgate too many times and let the interior lights stay on too long... but wonder if that is normal now....

Apparently I'm not the only one with this problem. Had my car washed by a mobile service a month ago and battery was dead after they left. They spent about 30 minutes on it with the doors open and such. Took it to the dealer and they said it just needed a charge but battery was fine. Um ok, really? Those dome lights must have a huge draw I guess. Anyway, happened again yesterday and I'm tired of this issue so it goes in tomorrow for a new battery even if I have to pay for it. My q7 which gets washed next to the x5m manages to keep it's battery charged during the same period so maybe I just need an Audi battery.....

We've had multiple battery drain issues on our '10 35d. Local dealership acknowledged the insufficiency of the existing one all on their own and replaced the old battery with a brand new, higher amp one. No issues since, but haven't seen the extremely cold weather that seemed to trigger our issues.

What I find ridiculous is that this appears to be a widespread issue that BMW NA/Canada have failed to adequately address.

BMW NA, replaced the alternator on my '08 550i. In my case, the car was barely a year old. They said it was a common failure on the E60. I wonder if its a common issue on the E70?
