I understand that it's best to replace in pairs but my rears were brand new with little mileage on them.

My question is, can I replace the damaged one with a brand new identical tire?

The tires had exactly 3410 miles on it, of which 2200 miles was highway driven across the country in a single trip.

Does 3400 miles make a difference in overall diameter?
The best way to know if it has affected the
diameter is to get a tire tread gauge for 3-4$ and measure the tread gauge and than you can check what was the new tread size on tire rack or some other site

For example the continental RFT comes as 9/32” when new and the Bridgestone was 11/32”.. but again each tire is different

If the new tire’s tread depth is within spec of the used one, often 1%, you should be ok. Check the tire manufacturer. If out of spec, you can have the new tire shaved down to match.

You will be fine. I seem to remember that 3/32" is within tolerance. 3,400 miles is not much to affect treadwear. I lost a fairly new tire with our X and a QT Jeep before that with no issues at 3/32" tread depth variance.
