Tesla Killer? Ok....this car probably won't even debut for another 4 years at least. Then cost at or above $200k.
Only thing this "Tesla Killer" has going for it is the few more miles it can get and the recharge rate. Don't like this design at all and hopefully Porsche gets its game together and make a better looking car. |

I like this car, tho a production version may be 200k+... so can't afford.
I would definitely buy an affordable electric or hybrid electric car from Porsche or BMW with similar performance to Tesla. I hope to see that within the next 4-8 years. The charging rate on this car is very much theoretical... it's like 800v and will need ridiculous amps to deliver such level or charge... it could only be achievable at a dedicated charging station maybe at Porsche dealerships... The actual problem with very fast electric car charging is the grid itself... if electric cars or plug-in hybrids become more mainstream, they will invariably have to charge fairly slowly... Tesla SCs use amperage like 10x of that of your drying machine... the grid can't handle 10 drying machines all running at the same time right after or before rush hour in every home... would just short out... The issue is not the amount of E available, but the flow of E and when... Therefore I don't think widespread fast charging will happen in the foreseeable future. Partly because of that, I don't think pure electric will become mainstream in the foreseeable future... people need their cars to go long distances with short refuel times... I think hybrid electric (with plugin) is the best choice. Plug in and get additional performance and fuel savings when you are in home city and commuting, but then have gas range and gas refuel to be able to go however long distances when needed for trips. |

That is seriously cool. Tesla is the only full electric today that has universal appeal. It's just not a mainstream brand and it's fairly pricey. The Leaf and i3 both look like @ss. This Porsche will be an expensive niche car unfortunately ( I'd love one ) but it will do tremendous impact of how electrics are viewed and once you convince the die hards this could go very, very fast. We could be looking at a digital camera scenario where combustion engines could be viewed like film cameras within a decade or so.

The car still sucks though, once the big real manufacturers (by that I mean people who actually compete on track with their vehicles not mouth off about specs like tesla and sue reviewers for voicing opinions) get in they are dinosaurs. |

Tesla isn't an automaker (in my eyes at least), it's a tech company. Tech companies in general are over inflated when talking values, especially companies like FB and TWTR. But keep in mind that Tesla isn't investing in interactions people have on the web, or on advertisement models. Tesla is developing on technologies like autonomous vehicles, high-density battery...stuff that could have a meaningful impact on not only the transportation sector, but also energy, infrastructure, and defense. You don't hear about Daimler, BMW, or VAG testing autonomous driving on a large scale, in real world setting, with customer cars. Nor do you hear much about battery technology for autos, apart from Tesla. For the record, I'm not trying to sound like a dick in anyway. The claims that I made may totally fall apart in the future....and so may yours. Only the future will tell. If you need proof, just look at VAG. |
