Exclamation X70 major leak!

Howdy. We bought our used 08 X5 this summer and just now noticed a major leak in two places when it rains (which it's been doing a lot of in Jan/Feb).

1) water occasionally drips in from the moonroof control panel area, by the driver/passenger convenience lights on the ceiling (???).

2) the drivers side floor is *completely* soaked.

We only noticed when the car started to smell of mildew. Help!

Do I have a leak somewhere inside the roof/walls/floor? How do I go about fixing this?

Thanks!

sunroof leak again.... Same shit happend on my wifes E84. Thry replaced some runnber stuff and brust my rear sunroof(seriously). they replaced the glass and we refinish the roof and insulation material since there are mold growing inside which bmw wont replace under warrenty. In your case i sughest takeing off the roof liner to see if the sunroof drain is pluged or not. if not check the runnber trim. if that wont fix might havo to adjust sunroof like the one on my buddy's E46. These should fix the problem and i strongly recommand replacing all the insulation material cause those mold can cause health issue.

Ok. Thanks folks!

1) how do I clear the sunroof drains?

2) is this the only floor pad I need to replace? Or is there one underneath?

Does anyone have the solution for this 2011 BMW X5 35i with soaked floors driver and passenger side. And when I open passenger side front door I can see a little stream on water coming down from the side of the dash to the floor..?? Any ideas guys?

Get your sunroof drains sprayed out with a compressor..they run down the A pillars on either side of the windshield.. might also want to look into replacing the door weather strippings. I don’t think all of the water you are talking about is coming from the headliner..

I used thick plastic trimmer line to push through the drains from the back and from the sunroof through to the front. I didn't have anything fall out that I noticed, but I'm fairly certain they are clear.

Just checked mine after sitting in heavy rain for 2 weeks.

I had a puddle of water in the passenger side rear area under the fuse panel.

No evidence where it came from unfortunately. Sunroof drains are clear and run freely.
