X6 3.5 w/ Dinan?

Hey guys,
Winter is starting to kick my 335i's ass and with baby #2 on the way The Wife and I have been discussing the X6. We both love the looks, havent driven one yet, but we have driven the X5 3.5 and 5.0. I have been wondering if it would be a better plan to go with the 3.5 and get the Dinan stage 2 which gives you close to the same hp/tq as the 5.0, but I assume would still give you the 6 cylinder gas mileage on the highway, and comes in about $15000 less.
Does the 8 spd tranny help much with mileage?
Thanks for your help.

I have 6 speed auto on 35i and I get 10 l/100km on the highway easy.
I didn't try any tunes yet but X6 is a heavy truck & I think you will miss the grunt of 50i even with dinan on the l6.

The dinan tune for the 2011 x6 35i (with the new n55 engine) isn't available yet.

:I just got rid my E92 for the same reason. I wanted an X6, but it just wasn't going to be practical with a child. The X5 gives you a lot more room , and you will appreciate it. Try taking a long trip in an X6, compared to an X5. There's a lot more cargo room in a 5. Otherwise, you will find yourself in the same situation you're in right now ! When we have kids everything changes !

Dont I know about the changes!
We have an MDX for all the cargo, and we find it underpowered for the weight, thats why I am curious about the Dinan upgrade for a 3.5i, as in theory it should be enough to get the X6 up and going. Primarily I am looking for better clearance, all wheel drive, and more cargo space than my 335. There seems to be no end to the snow coming down and the 335 is starting to suffer.
Have they improved the back up camera in the X6 since the 08s?
There is an 09 5.0 at a local BMW dealer that I hope to go check out today or tomorrow.

I just traded in my 08 e90 335i last month for a 11 X6 35i. The 35i has more than enough power for everyday used. It is no match to the 335i, but it has way more low end power than the MDX. My wife also drive a 2009 MDX and I can relate to your situation. You would be supprise how much you can store under the rear cargo floor. I took the car down to Lethbridge this pass weekend and I got about 630km from a tank. But that was vary the speed and rpm during the entire trip for the break in.

We have a 335i convertible and just bought an x6 5.0 with the 4.4 v8. I've had a bunch of performance cars including a 355F1 and have never felt a car was as ridiculously overpowered as this car! I love it, it is completely obscene. I would think that the smaller engine would be fine with the upgrade but the torque curve on the v8 would be more desireable with the same hp.

And correct me if I am wrong, but with the seat up, according to the spec's the x6 has 2 cubic ft more space than the X5 as long as you don't stack on top of the rear privacy cover. This surprised me. With the seats down, the x5 has 2 cubic ft more.
