Engine Malfunction Light still comes after VANOS Solenoid Replacement
Hello All,
I would appreciate help with may current BMW X5 50i issue which is related the following codes. Also I replaced the components listed below attempting to resolve issue. Symptoms: Engine malfunction light comes on after idle phase drops from 1200 to 900rpm. Light will sometimes clear when restarting the engine. No rough idle or erratic engine surges. Car runs fine. Codes read with ISTA D: 2B18 cylinder 3 misfire 2A79 Variable camshaft timing control, intake, cold start 2A78 Camshaft position controller, exhaust, cold start 2A7A Camshaft position controller, exhaust, cold start 2A75 Variable camshaft timing control, intake 2, cold start 2A7D Variable camshaft timing control, intake 2, cold start 2A7C Variable camshaft timing control, intake, cold start 2A7B Variable camshaft timing control, exhaust 2, cold start 2A7E Exhaust VANOS 2, mechanism Replaced components this past summer: 1. 4 Vanos solenoids (Pierburg) 2. All 8 Spark plugs 3. Ignition coil cylinder 2&3 (Eldor) 4. Both O2 sensors before catalytic converter 5. 2 Mass Airflow sensor 6. Oil and filter change 7. Valve stem seal replacement at Dealer(summer 2019) Definitely related to cold start issue. Annoying "Engine Malfunction Light". Thanks very much for any suggestions! Roger De |

So you are still getting all those codes after replacing those parts? I would look at your camshaft sensor. Possible the Pierburg VANOS solenoids aren’t functioning correctly? I’ve read to stick with Genuine BMW in other forums.
