BMW X5 M Sport Package
Hi Guys I'm new to the forum, currently I'm looking for a 2010 to 2013 X5 4.8i with M sport package, were these made in these years or are they all 50i
I'm not looking for a V6 model, just prefer the V8s Any info appreciated Thanks Last edited by 604BMWX5; 01-19-2021 at 09:49 PM.. |

There is no V6 model. You are looking for 5.0i models.

Just as an FYI on v8's and years.
The 4.8i n62 V8 was from 2007-2010 The 5.0i N63 was from 2011-2013 Just an opinion; Personally I'd skip an E70 and go for an F15 (2014+). Neither v8 in the E70 or the E70 itself are known for reliability. The N63TU 5.0i was a major improvement as was the F15 in reliability. It seems possibly the most reliable V8 in the E70 is the S63 found in the X5M. Just as a suggestion. I've owned all of the above and will say the N63TU is quite reliable, and my S63 was next and N62 was least reliable but not terrible given its age. All of them have been more reliable than my Ford 7.3L powerstroke v8. |

If you absolutly want an E70 (2007-2013), don't touch to V8 engine... not reliable and always issue with these engine.
Go with the 2011-2013 35i (L6 engine). If you ABSOLUTLY want a V8.... X5M !

Seems to be similar to a lot of BMW V8s- Generally problematic unless it’s in a M car

I have the 2012 50i M Sport. I took a lot of work and money to get to the way I wanted it, but now it is awesome. It is a monster. I get looks like, WTH is in that thing...

While the X5Ms are fun vehicles....they are HUGE maintenance nightmares. Anyone that wants to debate that is clueless. They have known established issues that you cannot avoid...PERIOD. Ticking time bombs in all honesty unless you are VERY, VERY, VERY serious about PM. And plan on carrying a case of oil in the back as the idiots at BMW actually state that an insane amount of oil usage is NORMAL! Please!! Not to mention Vanos, bearing journals, etc, etc, etc. Frankly horribly designed motors. German engineers love technology but have no clue about reliability in design.
Fun as hell to drive...when they drive. One of those vehicles to only be owned under warranty unless you are a very technically competent home mechanic or have at least $10-20K to spend in maintenance & repairs. "All BMW engines (excluding Motorsport) can consume up to 1 quart of engine oil per 750 miles at any time. - Due to the increased engine power, all Motorsport engines can consume up to 2.5 quarts of engine oil per 1,000 miles at any time." So unless you have a ton of extra dough, I'd avoid. And agree in general, I would avoid V8s as a whole. There is a reason why you don't see these cars very often with more than 150K. They tend to start having major failures at 80K. But in all honesty...that's probably true of most models. But you really need to pick your poison. Kinda sad but that's what we should all know & expect when owning one of these driving machines. I'm completely unbiased when it comes to this stuff. Have loved owning my Bimmers but they come with an assumed set of current and future problems. Best engines are going to be L6 or M57 or N57 diesels. I am tearing into my 35D (M57 diesel) with 77K to improve its reliability. If modded correctly, these motors can make it 300K+ pretty easy. One of the very, very few. But they also require a great PM schedule. And best with no emissions. And they can be tuned to run with X5Ms while getting 40 MPG on the highway. Hard to beat....but I'm absolutely biased on that. Oh, if you plan to mainly city drive....I would avoid diesels too unless you have it deleted. Last edited by DevisedByDev; 01-22-2021 at 04:58 PM.. |

I got an extended on it, and it's up in July of this year, so I'll probably sell it around then, or just trade for a 2018 x5m or something like that. But $14K is a good price. My blue book is about $19K or so. and it's a 2010. |
