2009 BMW X5 (E70) - Defective PDC Sensor

I have a 2009 BMW X5 (E70) that I bought less than a month ago, and the backup camera started giving me grief; it kept on beeping while I am backing up even though the back is completely clear.

Upon further investigation, I noticed that one of the rear sensors has bubbles on it (i.e., what a metallic surface would look like, when there's rusting occurring beneath the surface).

I started looking for spare parts, and tips on how to replace, but I came up with an idea. Instead of replacing, I bit the bullet, and scraped the bubbles off. The scratched surface ended looking whitish, but the problem disappeared.

I will probably look for a paint kit or something to make the whitish surface match the black color of my vehicle.

Hope this helps!
