Eletrical Problems

Guys, Just bought my wife a 2008 X6 that was still on the lot. Now it has been in for service 2 times and is heading back again, all in less than 45 days. I had them change the battery the first time and reprogram the car. However I'm having the same issue over and over. The car loss's parts of its memory. Seat memory, radio stations, and sometimes the clock. I'm getting pissed.

Either I have a Puma issue or a lemon!!

Thoughts???

Thanks Brad

Make sure the car has the right battery installed from the factory.
the wrong battery from the factory have been the cause of many problems for many including the Car & Driver Long Term x6 Tester!

Since you've already done battery(hopefully they put in correct one) and reprogrammed car , I would check Key fob as I think it stores the individual settings. Does it do it with both FOBs ?

some quotes from other threads that sound like similar issues...
my paperwork does show the replaced battery as being a type AGM (gel).

Your key fob for example uses an EEPROM to store your settings for seat and mirror position, temperature, unit preference (mph or km/h, degF or degC, etc) as well as radio stations, distance traveled, error messages, basic diagnostic info, etc...

Thanks for the thoughts - Please keep them coming

Yes they replaced the battery. I showed them the Car & Driver article and a print out of the old threads. They put the new gel pack battery in it. The second time they changed the codes in the remote (comfort access).

It is now a Puma situation and a BMW N/A guy will be here this week. Sounds like there are a few of these situations around the country. They believe it is software.

Thoughts?

OK, that's the extent of my brilliance for the year.
Please post the fix after the BMW/NA guy does the laying on of the hands.
