No Crank only Click

Hi, I have an E70 X5 xDrive35i.I recently found out I was having ground issues. So, I had tried the jumper cable remedy which worked i was driving the car around for a little bit just to charge up the battery and all of a sudden, my car had shut off while idling and I see smoke coming from my jumper cables melting. At first, I thought it was my battery, so I had tried jumping it that didn't work either all I heard was a click from my starter that's all. I have replaced the battery it is still the same issue. Checked all forums no one seems to have an answer for it. I hope one of you guys have a solution to this issue.

Have you replaced the ground strap yet?

Using the jumper cables to ground are just meant to help diagnose, I would never drive around with them under the hood.

It’s the ground cable. Run a new ground strap to the alternator bolt then to the radiator brace bolt.
