do you have picture of the scratch? If the scratch is deep enough that went through the clear coat, then you probably new to get it repaint. If not, it will most likely can be buff out.

It depends on how deep the scratch is. Most likely if you can feel it and it is not smooth, you will need to have the door repainted. If you log onto detailedimage.com, and send them an email, they might be able to recommend some products that help. i just bought a ton of great wash and detail supplies from them and they are very helpful and will answer any and all of your questions. Good luck. Those haters should be shot (or at least arrested and thrown in the can)

You will need a rotary or orbital buffer to do the job. Start with polishing pad and polish. If it still doesn't take out the scratch, then you might need to use something more aggressive like cutting pad with compound or wet sand. Get a professional detailer to do it if you are not comfortable with doing it yourself

Goto a pro, one that can wet sand if needed. Much cheaper than f'ing it up yourself.

where did this happen in NY? I would go to a professional detailer if you have never done it before since it is such a visible area.

Hopefully karma will repay the hater(s) 1000x over. You should have made a police report, because then if you do end up spending $$ for repair you could make an insurance claim. That aside, I would strongly recommend you have a pro look it over - a top notch detail shop. You're talking about a brand new X5 here...

I use a random orbital for polishing and waxing, and even will little experience (but patience and the ability to follow directions) you can try it with little risk of further damage. BUT be careful with polishes, they are abrasive and will remove some paint.

Best of luck with the repair!
