Ordered new X5

so i initially ordered the x3, then changed my mind because the lease rate was so bad. i then decided it was better if I buy the x3, then realize that the x5 I want is 5K more. Resulting in....me ordering the X5. lol

I'm currently on status 112 order. Anyone know how long it takes now for x5 to be in my possession? My SA said 6-8 wks!!! that's just crazy to me. now the tough part..waiting. my newborn will arrive in 8 wks or a bit less so I'm hoping it comes before that.

also realized that 2012 is coming soon, but i can't delay another few wks as kid is coming soon. my wife would kill me.

I picked up my X5 last friday. CA told me 8-10 weeks but actually got the car in about 6 weeks and I live in Seattle. My CA said he was surprised that it showed up 3 weeks early.

Congratulations on the car and the baby. The rear facing child seat should fit in you E90 M3 without any problems in case the newborn arrives before the X5. But trust me, for the first few weeks, you won't be going out much so you'll have the X5 just in time. We have a 4 month old and the car seat fits in my wife's E46 which is a bit smaller than E90, although it is a tight fit.

Similar to your situation, we were going to get the X3 but decided on ordering the X5. I am waiting to get more info on 2012 prices before deciding between the current inventory or getting a new MY12.

For sure the rear face as well as front facing will fit the e90, as it is currently fitting in my e92! We have another one expecting before the end of summer that's why we are going for the x5d very soon!

Just curious. For all you guys that order your vehicles, can your dealer not find you what you need in local inventories ? I walked talked to my sales guy and told him exactly what I wanted, and he had the vehicle brought down for me within a day.

i think here in cali you pretty much have to order the x5. they didn't any in stock with the options i wanted.

i actually got rid of the ///m3 a while ago (hardest thing i had to do). i borrowed my parent's g35 sedan for now. My wife has the g35 coupe. i'm sure we'll be ok with g35 sedan if the x5 takes that long.

btw...are the exhaust rounds or square? I think i've seen both. is it different on the xdrive35i vs xdrive50i?

- black matte grilles (where do we get this cheapest? Tischer?)
- painted reflectors
- does the X5 ///M wheels fit with no problems?
- lux angel eyes? is this the best one right now? any known problems with this?

I'm in San Diego. I wanted pretty much every option except Active Drive. My sales guy found the X5 I wanted in OC and had it sent down in a day.

just checked the status this morning. looks like it went to production stage. anyone know how long til I have it? looks like it should come earlier than 6-8 wks?

Congrats on the new ride.

No idea once it hits production status how long before you get it. I did order mine as we couldn't locate one with the exact options I wanted (I think it was the comfort access with premium sound that was the issue as we kept finding cars with one or the other but not both). From the order date, which was the last week of December, the car arrived the last week of January...so in all it took 5 weeks from order to arrival.

One thing you can do is get the production number and use the bmw site (under My BMW) and plug in the production number. Once you see it hit the last stage (at delivery prep) it will probably be at or near your dealer...so keep in mind it appears to be about a week behind. Anyone know of another "direct" route to query the production tracking system besides asking the dealer?

you can still haggle. my ca gave me the car for $800 over invoice.

I'm in LA and ordered mine on Dec 17 as a Prio 1 order. It was delivered on Jan 22 (5 wks) and that included the factory's holiday break and almost a week at the distribution center in Oxnard.

I found tracking on the internet to be pretty useless...There is a 1-800 you can call (maybe it was BMWUSA Customer service??) They had a lot more detail on the various stages of production, transit etc...

I remember being quite frustrated at how long my 35d took once production was finished to where it was on it's way in transit...But that was in January after some pretty big incentive pushes later in 010 calendar year.

Maybe the system has cleaned-out a bit since then...

There are a couple other decent sites to talk X5 out there too...Bimmerfest has an X Forum and XOutpost is also a good place to talk X5 as well...Welcome to the club.

which dealership did you order your car from? Do you know if South Bay BMW in Torrance is any good?
