Q: Will coding void my warranty?
A: No... Coding only unlocks those features that came disabled from the factory. When BMW connects to your car during a service appointment, the vehicle will appear to have came from the factory coded with the option(s) you have selected.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: Will I ever lose my coded options?
A: Possibly... If BMW updates any of your modules during a service appointment, those modules that were updated will reset those options back to factory defaults. This can easily be re-coded by contacting us. You could also let your Service Adviser know not to update your module's software when dropping off car (if you're not there for issues that could possibly require software updates to resolve your issues).
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: What operating system is required?
A: Windows operating system is required for the software we use during coding. It can be Windows XP through Windows 10 (32 or 64 bit), and can be used on a MAC as long as you are running a Windows OS in a virtual machine.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: What hardware is required?
A: You will need a KDCAN Cable, and external power supply if advanced flashing or several options are being provided. For the KDCAN cable, we recommend that we provide you with one of our loaner cables unless discussed with us prior to ensure that a working cable is available during the session. We will also discuss with you if an external power supply is necessary for your job.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: I don't have a KDCAN cable, can you provide one?
A: Yes, we have loaners that can be mailed to you using USPS 3 day priority mail.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: What program is used to offer remote assistance?
A: We use a program called Aeroadmin to connect and control your PC/MAC while using BMW Standard Tools.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: What hours are available to provide remote coding?
A: Depending on your location, coding may need to be accomplished during the evening/night hours. The specific time window can be determined once you are ready to get scheduled for a coding session.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: What other requirements are needed to ensure a successful session?
A: Ensure that you have a strong and dependable internet connection at your car either by LAN or wireless. Constant disconnection with the client can diminish the remote coding experience. Only the software and data provided during scheduling will be utilized by the coder. All previous versions may need to be uninstalled if all required software features are not present.
