M Track Days are back for 2017! But at a price...

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
I just got an e-mail from BMW NA announcing M Track Days for 2017. It looks like they're now charging $250, which is in line with the Performance Center "Experience" events which have been offered to groups in the past, including BMW CCA Chapters. The first M Experience event I attended was in September 2015 with my local BMW CCA chapter and cost $199. The second one I attended was in January 2016 and that one cost $209. Our chapter just did another one in January for $220. They're doing it again in January 2018 for $225, so the costs are going up.

The M Track Day I attended last September was at no cost and also included lunch. This is usually after the event if it's a morning event, or before the event if it's an afternoon event, although the e-mail and the website doesn't specifically mention lunch.

Here's the details from the e-mail:

PUSH LIMITS. BREAK RECORDS.

No red lights. No speed limits. This is an unparalleled kind of driving.

At BMW M Track Days, you’ll leave the road behind and live the life of a racecar driver. Sign up for this thrilling event and drive the full M lineup, receive professional instruction and exclusive access to renowned racetracks, and race to complete a timed lap that qualifies you for a nationwide driving competition – all for $250.

Find your track. Win your track.

BMW M Track Days in Homestead in June again. Was this event free in the past? It's showing that it's $250 now, but still seems worth it considering I'm an amateur on the track other than a few laps on Nürburgring.

Do you have any threads/reviews/info on the M Experience events you did with CCA?

Anybody go to this last year?

I went. Was worth it for free. Not worth it for 250. For some reason, the Wednesday time slots for Homestead-Miami cost $500.

Did this at Indianapolis Motor Speedway last year.... for free. Would pay to have that experience again at IMS but not anywhere else.

Wow this seems like a much better deal and experience than the $750 M events at the UDE's

Registered. $250 to drive at COTA, and thrash an M4 - that isn't mine? Sold.

Cheers

You wouldn't pay to drive Circuit of the Americas, where a track day usually costs more than $1000 bucks?

It's just a different experience. 1/2 day versus full day. Intro instruction on a racetrack versus deep dive one-on-one time (albeit not on a racetrack).

If you want to go play around at a super cool location for a half day with some friends and try all the new M cars, the $250 is for you. If you want one-on-one driving instruction and a full day experience, the $750 is for you.

BMW M Track Days 2017

Last year Track Days were free, tons of people showed up, so this year BMW is charging $250 to attend. I think it's totally worth it, so signed up for both Monticello and Homestead. Am curious to see how many people will pay to go.

Just received an email on this. Tempted to sign up for Monticello.

Not sure a drag race, autocross and a few pace laps (lead car driven by Instructor dictates pace of group) are worth $250? But again it's not a HPDE, but an opportunity to do some spirited driving in some M cars.

You should get 5-6 laps in an M2 and 5-6 laps in an M3 ZCP, minimum! Helmets are nixed this year so that means more seat time instead of fumbling around trying to have everyone put them on their head. Instructors go as fast as the slowest guy in the group allows, and people will be grouped by their stated experience level this year, so hopefully nobody ends up with a laggard.

Plus there's going to be a nice catered meal at the end and some cool gifts. And you're not going to get the opportunity to drive Monticello very often

It's $250 for any single day, you probably selected multiple days.
