Seemed plenty avail on the cpo and used market, with new 2017 models listed too. Which one was discontinued?

Isn't FCA being investigated by the govt for diesel cheating as well?

I'm sure if they just submit a workaround to allow them to burn "clean" coal, all will be forgiven.

I'm looking at a wrangler next year once the new body is released. I'm torn between the diesel and gasser, comes down to whether they offer the manual with the diesel. I'm going to keep my 335 but wanted a 4 door vert that I can take camping.

Aren't the diesel and four cylinder petrol coming about a year after the JL launches, in line with the pickup?

Looking around, some dealers are offering 2k off jeep GC summit which is meh in my opinion. Some dealers are offering 7-8k off which is good.

You can do WAY better than $2k off.

We have two sitting in the garage right now. A 2012 3.6 V6 Limited that has been flawless for 59,000 miles and a 2014 Ecodiesel Limited with 36,000 miles, which is new to us. The 2014 is our fourth JGC. We currently have a 17-foot travel trailer we were pulling with the 2012, but are expecting a second child in February and will need to upgrade the travel trailer to something in the 24-foot range with bunks. The V6 in the 2012 is only rated to tow 5,000 LBS, so we had to get something that would tow more. the 2014 diesel is rated for 7,200 LBS.

We looked at many different vehicles and wound back up at Jeep as it's the only mid-sized SUV besides the Durango and Euro offerings with any real towing capability. It was either the HEMI or the Ecodiesel. The extra fuel mileage and torque sold us on the diesel. The thing got 30.2 MPG on the way home from picking it up doing 80 MPH most of the way (Seattle to Spokane) and based on a short towing experience so far looks like it will probably pull down 15-16 MPG towing versus the 10 we were getting on the 3.6.
Speaking of towing, the ecodiesel absolutely yanks our trailer around like the 3.6 V6 could only dream of and it cruises along at 70 MPH on the highway around 2,000 RPM. The V6 got a little buzzy needing about 3,500 RPM to do the same thing.
All of the 2014 and newer Jeeps come with the ZF 8 speed auto which is pretty smooth compared to the old 5-speed on the V6 or 6-speed on the Hemi found in 2011-2013 models.
Since Fiat took over, Chrysler's reliability has definitely taken a hit. That can be seen in any publication that reports on initial quality or longer-term reliability. We are hoping that the 2014 serves us well with no major issues. Our 2012 is currently for sale.

Regarding the old 4.0 inline six. Yes it was a bullet proof torquey engine, but the new 3.6 V6 absolutely demolishes it in terms of performance. It even outperforms the old V8. Give me the the 3.6 any day of the week over the old 4.0.

Diesel cheating. It was mentioned earlier in the thread.

No, not diesel cheating - forget about that. Read any Jeep forum with a section on the JGC diseel. Their reliability is horrible - check engine light after check engine light, DEF problems, electrical problems with no fix in sight.

I was seriously considering a JGC diesel, test drove one and loved the platform, but thank god I waited. Went with the hemi instead and it is a problem free great vehicle, and easier for my wife to fuel. I should have pulled the trigger on a Q5 diesel before they yanked them from the market. What a vehicle that is!

My neighbor has a Q5 diesel and she's getting one heck of a payment from Audi.

I've been very happy with my Hemi JGC as well. New exhaust and SRT rear sway bar make the car so much more fun to drive.
