Could Carly Have Fried FRM Registering Battery?

Hi folks. Registered a new battery to my father’s 2010 X5 3.0, 107k miles using Carly. Afterward, the dashboard lit up with everything. Scanned for codes and found numerous issues. Drove for a while, turned lock to lock, but nothing cleared out. He brought it to his (capable) Indy, who said the FRM is fried. Is this really possible that Carly caused this, or was there a problem likely before? I don’t know what the baseline codes were. I’ve read that there was an extension to the FRM warranty, but I’m pretty sure it’s past for his car. Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks.

Anything is possible. How bad was the battery that was replaced? Perhaps the voltage got so low it damaged the FRM. Maybe Carly did the damage. The FRMs in the E70 are known to be pretty fragile. It's the reason for the extended warranty on them.

The fragility is also why I avoid doing any coding on the FRM on our E70. All our other Bimmers, no problem. But the E70... I leave it alone.

Thanks for the opinions. When the FRM went, no windows, turn signals, etc. The Indy said the original battery was fine all along. My dad didn’t want me to buy a used part off eBay and put it in, so he shelled out over $700 to get it fixed. He still didn’t identify the root cause of why the car was hard to start in the first place, but now it allegedly starts fine.
