lookin at a 2001 X5
Hi
I am looking at a clean blue 2001 X5 3.0 w/ 230,000 miles. it is straight and clean. It has a tow package. Wondering about any issues I should be aware of. since the miles are high I wont be able to get an extended warr. Any comments are appreciated. also, theey are asking 7k.....I'm thinking 5k? |

I have a 2001 bmw x5 3.0i E53, many many problems.
Hopefully the one your buying has normal spring and strut, don't go with air suspension. Check all 4 door window and lock regulator. The coolant reservoir. The car has many oil leaks. Also check the DISA valve & rear subframe bushings(which are a pain in the ass). |

vague answer is vague.........
It would have been one thing if you were first and no one else answered..... but it makes you seem bitter and lame when two others were VERY helpful. just sayin. but let me help you insert 2002 Infiniti Q45 into my question and here is the answer: 1.Check for heisitation on acceleration.....they can fix it. 2. driverside exhaust manifold seem to have a manufacturer defect to leak. replacing is 500 part 400 labor 3. driver seat rocks...tough fix 4. burns oil. but does it consistantly. see posts. 5. no aftermarket parts (unless you have 5k+) see how easy that was. Wow. Don't get me wrong, I'm a big BMW fan, but you would have to pay me 5K to even take a BMW with 230,000 miles. I'd rather get kicked in the stones. At least that way the pain will be quick and I'll know when it's over.

this was one of those impulse thoughts.
It was availible, it looked very nice (and not 13 yrs old)!!!! And the price seemed right. Wasnt like I needed an suv. I actually thought about getting in cheap and turning it. |
