Bonnet

I think it's going to look really nice when painted and installed. I'm going to have the mesh match the Lumma titanium grill & window trim.

Mats...

After some debate, Lumma has supplied me with a pair of front mats because I absolutely hate the first set they sent me. I really like the ones they have sent this time around ... at no additional charge.

Everything looks good except the tinted tails. Reason being is:

1) Looks cheap
2) Lowered brightness during daytime. You'll argue, "Oh you can see it just fine", and although that may be true, brightness is still not at max
3) Cop bait
4) If someone rear-ends you, you normally are not at fault but since the lights are illegal, you will lose any insurance claim if they have pics immediately

yeah, I have the roof extention rear light not so dark to help with this. And I can always switch to my shaded Lumma ones, but they are European and have the orange glow for the turning signal.

To my knowledge, shaded lights are only illegal if the clear REVERSE lens is shaded. Being European, I adopted the European mod - which leaves the clear strip ... clear.

Still, I don't get pulled over. The X5 is not a car that police here seem to mess with...and I've blown past many of them since Jan 2009. But ... the X5M drivers might change thier opinions on the X5 (one blew past me one morning on the way to work). :-(
