Con artists and don't they mostly want to tell you about your past? Unless I have completely lost it why would I want a random person to tell me about my life? I was there.

I'm not exactly a believer and taken it all with a grain of salt, although I've met one that is crazy accurate, and has started her own radio show and is now booked for weeks at a time (Tina Z)...

A girl I was seeing at the time was uber-superstitious, so I was with her when she went to a reading, and there are things she said that I never told many people (including the girl, so I know she's not getting crib notes from her), and at the end of it all there was nothing that I can disagree with and my mouth was wide open, like "your grandparents, especially your grandfather were performers on a professional level" (I'm actually the step-grandson of Bill Hopper and my grandma was a Vegas performer [not the nude kind]), or a few specific things from my childhood and things that recently happened.

Sure, Psychics are real.
They are real good at making money by doing nothing but fooling you. Talent comes in many forms. Technically, a very logical person could seem "psychic" to an idiot that cannot see past their shoelaces...

I'm not saying i'm psychic, but i can tell you with a high degree of accuracy, in which direction most OT threads on BP are going to go.

Does that count?

Even kids are sometimes born with abilities to look into the past and also predict the future. I find it creepy and unsettling but can't deny that it's real.
Those aren't actual research papers. Those are research papers in the same sense that my 5th grade book report is a "research paper."

When people talk about research, the underlying assumption is that it's peer-reviewed, scientific research. Those links you provided are neither scientific nor peer-reviewed.

Now I don't believe in phychics but I've had premonition. If I had a dream and my ex girlfriend was in it I knew she would call me within a week. 100% accurate. We dated for 3 years and kept in touch for another 10 or so. She got married after we broke up and that's when this would happen. I would even tell people I was expecting her call. She was the one that got away.

How do you distinguish between a premonition and a lucky guess?

Or some other unconscious reminder like anniversary date, birthday, holidays, summer memories, etc....

So true. The brain sometimes tells us things, without us consciously acknowledging the trigger for this seemingly mystical, insightful thought or premonition. Occassionally, if you then consciously acknowledge this "moment", it is possible to reason your way back to the trigger point. Like you say, it could be something as inoquous as a number, that starts this dominoe sequence in a split second, that leads to this seemingly miracle like premonition event.

It's simply the brain. Showing off.

Here's the deal with all that. She was married to another guy and lived 125mi away.we had no common friends. The first time I actually said,"wow that's funny you were in a dream of mine 4 days ago". After that it was very obvious. We're talking less that once a year. She wasn't part of the dream, just in it. Meaning the dream was not about her. She was contacting me because I'm not going to call a married ex-girlfriend. Never experienced anything like it and it eventually stopped happening.

Please send me the power ball numbers, i'll split the winnings with you.

J/K of course. I've had similar things happen. I just chalk it up to something explainable.

I wish I had some kinda power to do that. I wouldn't be sitting here typing on a phone. I'd have my incredibly hot "people" type for me. And feed me, and wash me, and wipe me, and......you get the picture.

These people pray on the desperate faith of others. You can call them whatever you want, conman, thief, charlatan, or carnival barker. It's funny to see so called intelligent celebrities fall for this age old scam.

I don't believe in that stuff either but you shouldn't be so judgmental about it. To each his/her own.

I think a lot of these people are cons, but at the same time I do feel there are some things in the world that can't be entirely explained; things that are mysterious in nature. It's the same reason why so many people believe in ghosts and other superstitious stuff.

If they are legitimate why can't they ever predict (with some certainty, not "there will be a catastrophe in the future") something that really matters? It's always some unimportant, vague nonsense that only relates to the guy paying them.
