Traction control not defeatable

Is it not possible to turn off traction control and stability control on my X5? It seems that pushing the button only enables it to be slightly less sensitive.

Can this be programmed out or otherwise changed?

I have a 2011 4.4 V8. No Msport or sport package.

Hold onto it until it shuts off.
