Cutting isn't required. A non-M X5 doesn't have a reflector at/near the mounting point like the X5M, so it's a non issue. There won't be a reflector there on a non-M X5. Last edited by Sedan_Clan; 06-24-2013 at 03:15 AM.. |

Definitely keep us/me posted on how it works out with your shop. I think that depending on the ease of this conversion, MANY of us driving "normal" X5's will perform this conversion. I've already estimated that parts will cost just a tad under $1300 (...$999 for the front bumper and two X5M fender flares at about $140 a piece; add $450-ish for a replica Vorsteiner CF front lip, and you're at $1750 in parts), so if the body work isn't too invasive, I can't see a shop charging much to install/align the parts. Paint would probably be another $400 or so. I'm really eager to do this conversion.

I should have been more specific. I was referring to the VS rep (...as I refuse to spend $1500 on a part that will/could be damaged easily from road debris; I learned my lesson after a tire tore my Arkym in half). I edited my original statement.
