Adding Sirius to 2009 X5

EDIT: Its a 2009

Hello guys,

I want to add Sirius to my wifes X5. I have heard different things. It's pre-installed, just tun it on. The parts guy at my dealer just told me its $500+ in parts and another 4-500 in labor.

Does anyone know the real deal. Im def not paying a grand for Sirius...

I believe the 09's had a different idrive system that did not have the hardware included. It requires a separate receiver + activation + installation. I know the new 2011 have the hardware included and is a matter of software activation.

You should be able to find a receiver used. They pop up from time to time. You can buy a receiver from a 3 or 5 series as well.

You're looking for the following part numbers

65129192274 or -73

I see someone is selling from a e60 5 series on eBay for $200

You could install it yourself. The wiring is all there. You will also need the mounting bracket as well with a couple of bolts.

65156951369

Coding should only be 1 hour though.

or you can get one of those remote coding services to add the sirius option. With that you can also get the other cool mod stuff (like folding mirrors on lock and what not).

Dude, Sirius sucks. Just do yourself a favor and plug in an iPod into the Aux or your iphone and listen to pandora!

MOST Junction box

I bought a used Sirius tuner in ebay, plugged in to existing wiring in rear, question I have is moving the MOST wires around. I found an E70 Sirius install manual dated 2006, the fiber locations on the diagram is different to what I have on my 09 X5. On the top junction box both SDAR fibers are plugged into Pin1 top and bottom. Bottom junction box has fiber plugged in 3,4 and 5, both top and bottom. So does anyone know what positions SDAR fiber goes on the bottom junction?
