E90 owner looking for info on X5
Like the title says I am the proud/happy owner of a 09 E90 335 and want to stay in the BMW family when shopping for an upgrade to the wife's ride. We are not looking to buy new but what should I look for in used X5s? We're looking at the 06/07 years as that is within our budget. When was the LCI for that body? Generally anything to look for when shopping around?
Thanks |

On an opposite view we are going from a 2010 X5 to a 2012 F30 due to the fact my wife finds the car way to big and difficult to park and refuses to drive it now. So in November we get our 320d replacement which is a great ride imo. Will miss being so far up and looking down but economy should double and so will comfort

We are going to go from a 320 to a used X5 with 7 seats. I know what you mean about being big. Having had a car for the last 4 years has been good, but I miss the room of an SUV. We had an ML and a Prado before that. |

it depends on your need, but for me the six cylinder is more than adequate for daily commute, burn less fuel, and proof to be more reliable than the v8 not to mention cheaper to buy.

the X1 is ugly! I had one as a loaner three months ago and everyone i met agree although it is nice and well finish inside. the nose is way too long and look's dispro'portianate from the side view. The new X3 look's far better.

Humm... I don't know what you're talking about.
Used to have an X1, and sold it after brand new purchase to get a 2010 X5 35d. Came from a E90 and I was missing the i6. Can't go wrong with the X5. But try it before purchase, since the size can be, well, impressive ! Did choose the 35d and can't be happier. A lot of punch, and still very economic as a daily driver.

I'm on the central coast between Sydney and Newcastle. The 35d drives very smooth, twin turbos are fantastic. Also if you buy a used car make sure it has reversing camera it is a MUST on a car this size. We tried the X1 but the F30 is so smooth to drive and the 320d is so economical too (I'm older now I don't push the accelerator that hard anymore) in short the X1 did not feel as nice as the F30.
Interesting how you are going from 320 to X5 and we are doing the opposite, X5 to 320. You will love the car, I drove the current model and the softer steering and new 8 speed box make it easier to drive although the HUD is not visible if you have polarized sunglasses on. |
