Still Waiting For My X5 35d - Told There Is A New Stop Sale Bulletin

Hey guys, I am patiently awaiting my 2012 X5 35d. It went into production with an estimated completion date of 11/7. On the 7th, the vehicle was at Status 155 - Assembly Finish /Quality Check. Since then there has been no movement.

My dealer has been trying to get an update for a week and yesterday was finally told there was a new Stop Sale Bulletin issued on the X5 Diesel related to a problem with a bolt attaching the engine drive belt pulley.

Has anyone experienced a stop sale in the past or have more info on this situation? Any sense for how long these Stop Sales can last?

I was supposed to take delivery this morning and the dealer called to say they cannot deliver the car. This was supposed to be a replacement for one destroyed by Sandy. No estimate of a delivery time. And I already have the insurance started.

My production date was Nov 12 or 13. I am sure I will be in the same boat. Was looking forward to the delivery by end of this month.

Dealer has promised delivery before Thanksgiving. I sold my car last week when they told me production was finished and the car was on schedule. Now I am paying for a rental car. Hoping the dealer will get me a loaner if this is going to take a while.

Just took delivery of our 2012 x5d on the 13th. I'll have to be on the lookout for this recall. Thank for that info.

Here's the press release. This is pretty old. Assume they'd have fixed the models coming out during the last two months.

Report Date: June 21, 2012
NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number: 12V267000

Vehicle Make / Model, Model Year(s): 2012-2013 BMW X5, 2013 BMW X6
Manufacturer: BMW OF NORTH AMERICA, LLC

Component: STEERING
Potential Number of Units Affected: 2,642

Summary:
BMW IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2012 X5 VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH A DIESEL ENGINE AND 2013 X5 AND X6 VEHICLES. DUE TO A MACHINING ERROR OF THE STEERING GEAR SURFACE, POWER STEERING FLUID MAY LEAK.

Consequence:
LEAKING POWER STEERING FLUID CAN SPRAY ONTO HOT EXHAUST PARTS, INCREASING THE RISK OF AN ENGINE COMPARTMENT FIRE.

Remedy:
BMW WILL NOTIFY OWNERS, AND DEALERS WILL INSPECT, AND IF NECESSARY, REPLACE THE STEERING GEAR FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING JULY 2012. OWNERS MAY CONTACT BMW CUSTOMER RELATIONS AND SERVICES AT 1-800-525-7417.

Notes:
CUSTOMERS MAY CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S VEHICLE SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-327-4236 (TTY: 1-800-424-9153); OR GO TO HTTP://WWW.SAFERCAR.GOV.

Was at the dealer on Saturday and they let me take a short drive in an x5d...had to keep it short because of the stop order. Said they were expecting parts to arrive shortly but that they couldn't sell me the car I drove. I put an order in on a '13.
