Clean tune with DOC?

Hello, I’ve been researching but I’m not seeing what I’m looking for...
My wife and I are thinking about getting a 2011 x5 35d with 125k miles.
I would like a tune. I’ve heard a trans tune is a must.
I’d like to do a mid-pipe or a full down pipe and mid-pipe, but I don’t want to deal with a rear strong diesel smell. In fact, I’d like it to be minimal.
How strong is the smell with a stage 2 tune and a DOC?
Thanks!
-Jorgen

My weekend car is a 2011 M3 with a g-power supercharger!

I have a JR 2.8 tune with ABC delete and an aftermarket DOC cat just after the downpipe. It smells pretty strong, I feel like the cat only does anything after some hard driving when the exhaust is nice and hot. Other than that I really dislike how strong the smell is most of the time.

How about wrapping the DOC to get the temps up and keep it hot?

talked to buzzken about this and he advised against wrapping the DOC in anything.

I've got the catless ATM dp +midpipe , and I don't really notice that much of a smell.

My wife hasn't complained about it yet (going on 4 months having it).

Good to know. Have any pics? Would your recommend it? Do you know where they are manufactured?

The DOC on my ATM downpipe is CanAmMex brand made in the USA. I believe ATM does all their work in NJ but I could be wrong. Their site says preorder but I think they're just made to order. (Preorder makes it sound like its further out for some reason, at least to me).

See pictures linked below. I was worried it might have been messed up because the flange that connects to the turbo is slightly angled, but apparently its designed that way and has been great on my car for about 4 months and a couple thousand miles. They are kind of hard to get in touch with, but will get back to emails in a few days.

Mine came with exhaust clamps but I dont think they include a Turbo to DP gasket which I believe others may (the gasket is cheap and is probably a good idea to have a new one on hand). You do have to cut the stock midpipe towards the back, as youll see the ATM midpipe is shorter.

No pics, but I highly recommend it. ATM is made in the states I think (https://www.atmspeedshop.com/)

Its a very well made piece, and I haven't had any issues or drone.
I even bought the TunemyEuro (https://www.tunemyeuro.com) e70 rear muffler delete also. No drone, and it gained louder whistley noises.
